Alan said there was a script for a sequel, but it was terrible and they most likely won't move forward with it.
As with most horror comedies, I believe it works better as a stand alone film anyways. You can't recapture that magic (Evil Dead being an exception).

You could always go the way of the Cornetto trilogy, and have sequels that aren't really sequels.

After refurbishing the lake cabin, Dale finds out he’s the last member of an inheritance. An antebellum mansion deep in Dixie country. As the duo tries to make repairs, they’re bedeviled by an actual cult trying to get into the basement and retrieve the McGuffin.

What do you consider the third Evil Dead?
Army of Darkness, the third film in the series?
Evil Dead (2013), the third film with "Evil Dead" in the title?
Or Ash Vs. Evil Dead, the third iteration of the Evil Dead franchise?
