I agree it was overlong.
The movie is gorgeous and the action/performances are great, but holy christ did it drag on. I felt bored in a way I never did during the nolan batman films.

Yeah but Like why is there no back story to how batman can fight or how catwoman learned to fight?
bao276 t1_iuabzcf wrote
cause we dont need a backstory
darthgong OP t1_iuach6o wrote
So we also dont need a back story to how powerful rey is in star wars...
anunfriendlytoaster t1_iuadupf wrote
No because Rey’s story isn’t established in 4 other versions

But batmans either Thats a diferent batman not nolans. They could be creative with his families death. Like in every batman series they are creative with how they bring it up but here they were lazy

No cause it was actualy interesting like there was a shock moment every 28 minutes it feels like. In batman u whould expect a 3 hour movie to have atleast back story thats what disapointed me the most 3 hours is too long around a plot. At one point its predictable
darthgong OP t1_iuafued wrote
Or better said homeming introduced the characters better in my opinion

The answer is because Batman has existed for 80 years and there’s no narrative value in retreading Batman’s origins, especially when you’re not telling a Batman origin story.
This is Batman in his second year as a vigilante.
Also, the movie does enough explaining in the world building it does. When we see the Batcave and listen to the dialog, it’s clear that Bruce Wayne is highly devoted to his mission, trains relentlessly, and has been out fighting for well over 18 months. If you do anything every single night for nearly 2 years, you’ll get good at it.
BTAS also never gave an origin story and it’s the best Batman series of all time. The Arkham Asylum games, too. Even Origins kicks off at his second or third year.

Nolans batman was the best. Its just lazzy not taking time in a 3 hour movie to explain. In the arkham games u dont care cause u actualy wanna play the game. And spiderman also existed so long and they still showed us how he became spiderman in tasm. I just dont like batman being a merry sue. Like even in arrow or flash the only dc movies i watched have got better character introduction. Where is the character introduction in batman just a guy in a suit in a cave working with a cop we literaly know nothing else.if its a realistic batman movie how does catwoman know how to fight why dont they show us how she learns.
