I really thought I was done with Kevin Smith. I loved Clerks and I loved Clerks II and even Mall Rats to a lesser degree. But it was Dogma that really blew me away. I really loved his serious look at faith and Catholicism and dogma. After that though I really felt like his online presence and his schtick just became too much. I didn't find it interesting or clever or even fun.
But for some reason I sat down last night to watch Clerks III. I think I was just interested in seeing what he was going to try to do with it and I suppose I was wondering what was going on with the characters in the film who were the same age as I am. Boy oh boy I did not expect to enjoy it like I did and I did not expect the emotional response from myself. I just enjoyed so much about this film. The soundtrack and the throwbacks to the other films and that the characters had actually aged like real people do.
Anyway. I am tired of hearing myself. Thanks Mr Smith for the great experience.
