"Rocky 1 and 2" is a fairly accurate depiction of South Philly in the late 70's --- anyone who grew up or been to that area knows the rowhouses are exactly as they appear in the movie --- it's the kind of neighborhood where a hometown Italian guy could get people cheerin' for him as he ran his morning jog through the streets --- it's very unique to South Philly, the same way 80's Compton is a hood with a look unique to L.A. or the Upper West Side is unique to snobby wealthy people in Manhattan

Brooklyn is a beautiful snapshot of 1950's Ireland and New York.
Paterson is a delightful slice of life film set in Paterson, New Jersey.
My Neighbor Totoro makes me fell nostalgic for rural Japan even though I was born and raised on the other side of the world.
On the other side of the spectrum, and of earth, I've always been fascinated by New York in the 70's. Not comfy but I think it's a fascinating place and time to visit trough Taxi Driver.
