Seriously, it’s just really bland. The one note rushed story and bad acting could be forgiven if at least the basketball was good. I feel a director with more imagination could have done much more with the concept of MJ, cartoons, and basketball. Some creative team passing, some great crazy plays drawn up like a play for bugs where he cuts to the rim but he goes underground and then appears at the basketball for a wide open ally or layup, some euro steps, nut megs, say taz uses his spinning as a post move to get around a monstar. For a basketball movie there’s actually not that much actual basketball played and when it is it isn’t that good. Also mj doesn’t even look like he’s in the same room with the toons at any point in the movie. It’s just a bunch of shots of a player making a dunk or dibbling past another player. Or doing some random hijink on court that has nothing to do with the game. Also the mesh of mj in the animated world isn’t good at all.

its worked for its time considering it was for kids.

Overall it's a decent movie. Monstars still one of the coolest villains.

Were the looney tunes supposed to be out there running the triangle offense?

That's just how they played Basketball in the 90s (minus the Globetrotters)

Idk I tried to watch it for nostalgia with a friend and we gave up around the time Michael Jordan and Bill Murray check out a cartoon rabbit’s ass.

I've seen some behind the scenes stuff

The people making the movie admit they had no idea how to make a live action m9vie with animated characters

They'd film a bunch of stuff, then take the footage to the animators and say, put tweetie bird here

The animators would tell them, that's not how it works.

We need to do this in tandem with you, design when and where the animated elements will be added, Block the shots etc

So a lot of stuff is just the best they could do considering half of it was shot ass backwards and without any knowledge of how you would integrate animated with live action

But even with all that, it's a fine movie for kids
