Don’t get me wrong, the man was a legend. Hunt for Red October one of my favorite movies of all time. I love me some Highlander and Last Crusade. He played James Bond and gave us the phrase “You’re the man now, dawg”—one of the original memes.

But was he actually a good actor? His range seems to go from “Spaniard with a Scottish accent” to “Russian with a Scottish accent.” He can deliver a good quip, but so can most action stars. I can’t really think of a time he carried a comedy, like Arnold did with Last Action Hero or Kindergarten Cop. Off the top of my head, I can’t even remember him playing a character with a wife who was still alive. What are examples of scenes where you thought “that guy can act”?

So what’s the verdict? Yesh or no? Was Sean Connery a good actor, or did he just pave the way for guys like The Rock?
