I’d say take the C&J bus line. They will drop you off directly in front of your terminal at Logan

This. Unless they just really want to ride the train for fun, they C&J is an order of magnitude more convenient and I believe cheaper.

The one way tickets for the train were cheaper, but tbh you right I kinda want to ride a train, we don’t have them where I moved from 😂

Ok I recommend it then! It’s a pretty nice train by amtrack standards. It is very consistently on time as long as there isn’t stormy weather.

Taking the T from north station to Logan will be more of an issue. I’d leave plenty of time for that. Will you have a lot of luggage? Are you comfortable navigating the subway? What day and what time of day? If the T is a disaster you could Uber.

I’ve used lots of subway systems and used the Boston one on a trip before so I’m moderately confident I can figure it out. And like you said there’s always Uber if shit hits the fan when I get there lol

A big +1 to C&J. Much easier than taking the train in and will drop you off right at Logan. The train will bring you into north station and then you’ll have to figure out how to get to the airport from there.

Absolutely agree.

I used to go to Logan EVERY Sunday for 3 years for work and it's consistent as a clock.

I hate taking it, but that's because I basically lived on those busses.

I love this about their service.

No doing the last leg on the T, hoping it’s running on time.

No hunting for parking.

Super convenient.

Just to make certain you are aware, the Downeaster will not take you to the airport. It will take you to North Station, then you need to take the Orange (or Green) line to the Blue line. Blue line goes right to the airport.

Yep I’m aware but thanks for pointing it out! :)

I'd take c&j. I've never had issues with the c&j bus being late. I've taken the Amtrak down Easter from Durham many times and the latest it's ever run behind was almost an hour(I was taking an early train that day trying to get to a Broadway touring showtime at the Boston opera house and was sweating bullets on that one...normally I'm pretty relaxed with travel delays because I don't have a specific schedule)

One of my kids rides it regularly. It's almost always on time or within 5-10 minutes.

I also say C & J. They are almost always on time. The only time take to take the downeaster is for things at the garden

WhiskyIsMyYoga t1_iyonp0a wrote

I commute home on it. It’s on time 95%

l0ngtrail t1_iym4skq wrote

Yes, at most 5-10 min late, but usually on time

TheMobyDicks t1_iymaaox wrote

Every time I've ridden, it's been on time. A weekly commuter would know better, though.

The train is great and pretty punctual. C&J you still need to sit in traffic. However to the airport there is zero doubt the bus is easier

ClariNerd617 t1_iyvje12 wrote

Compared to other American trains, yes.

Compared to .italo, EuroCity, or Shinkansen?

Horribly late.

SquashDue502 OP t1_iyw2n7c wrote

The reason I always ask about train punctuality is because my first train experiences were from DeutscheBahn 😂😂

AssMaster2020 t1_iz2fo5u wrote

Oh man... it's definitely better than the DB. At the very least you can be sure the train wont be stuck at a "10 minute delay" for 2 hours.
