I think it's a lot more complicated than greedy contractors. Certainly, we are often either paying lowest bidder or politically connected contractors who do the work for as little money as possible. There's also the situation that Rt. 1 is an extremely busy corridor for both commuters and trucks.
Even with the most well built roads, they will get torn up by overweight vehicles over time. The water is pooling exactly along the tire treads. Regular resurfacing is part of maintaining road infrastructure.

Bro that's where the tires go through, so the water cools the tires. Wtf

A lot of of our highways and roads used to be concrete. They never actually removed the concrete they just paved over it.

Oh yeah? Back in my day, all highways were solid granite blocks 15 feet long and 5 feet deep. what now

Oh please... back in my day, we had cobble stones. Some of it you can still see in areas marked as historic.

My commute home has me get off on the exit onto 295 South. There was so much traffic and of course after my exit (where you snapped that pic) is where I noticed the roads were clear and no traffic. Just my luck lol.

Same except I go 295 North from US-1 South. Total shit show from like Market Fair to 295. Any idea if it was storm related (tree down, etc) or accident?
TwoGoalsOneCup OP t1_j9ju6pn wrote
So the temporary storm knocked down a utility pole and forced closure for a bit over an hour. Saying it was a possible tornado, not confirmed though.

I hate that area so much lol

That's what I was thinking. I assumed that it was but only saw some police lights up near that bridge in your photo. Didn't look like anything was obstructing the road.

They tore down that seedy motel, huh?
TwoGoalsOneCup OP t1_j9jubnd wrote
It got flooded a couple of years ago so might as well tear it down not long after. It was about time tbh.
PaxSicarius t1_j9jlrgv wrote
Like a year ago now. Think they're building a new seedy hotel in its place.

Ugh, I've done Traffic Safety (lane closures, shoulder closures, etc.) on Rt. 1. You all need to put your damn phones down and just drive. Doing somewhere within 20mph of the speed limit would be nice as well.

That’s a relatively new resurfacing job. Look how fucking terrible it is. Look at all that standing water = future potholes. I swear contractors do it deliberately so they have to come back five years later and get paid again.
