  1. Don’t mail checks, and if you do don’t keep a lot of money in the account

  2. Streaming services don’t ask to screenshare your computer when you do TV sign in or ask you to send them money. There are a lot of fraud TV sign in sites preying on people typing in the wrong web address.

So many customers have shared these two scams with me, the first in passing and the second as the reason they called in. Not just older people either, a lot of 20 somethings and middle aged people fall for the second scam.

Couldn't get the article. Just curious, I'm an old guy so bear with me. Why do you advise against mailing checks? I haven't seen anything about this. I write way fewer now than just a few years ago but I do use this service.

I didn’t read it - just shared what I learned from customers who got scammed. A woman mailed a check, it got intercepted, the scammer used the numbers on it to transfer money. She only realized after 3k was missing.
