Ralphs in East Rutherford is god awful. My girlfriend broke a 4 year vegan streak there and the pizza was burnt, dry and flavorless !

Ralphs in NUTLEY however is a gem

Lido in Hackensack is the answer to this question, every single time. I think if there was a single comment I've left the most times across all of reddit, it's this one, on this sub, answering this question.

Vic’s brings the business. Everyone sleeps on Vic’s with P&E five minutes away but there’s nothing like Vic’s fried calamari and a meatball pie on a Sunday. So much more flavorful than P&E with its own unique texture and tang from their sauce.

If we’re mentioning Brick spots La Fontana has hands down the best Chicken Parm and Cheese Steak pies I’ve ever had in my life. Their plain is nothing incredibly special but their specialty slices are banging.

That’s the one thing I miss about working remote now, I haven’t been to Rocco’s in over two years.

Lido Lido Lido Lido Lido, Hackensack

Star Tavern (but get it well done), Orange (I think)

Pizza Heaven, Parlin/Sayreville

Nunzio's, Sayreville/South Amboy

Marina's, East Rutherford/Wallington (I think it's closed now, but was always on my Mt Rushmore)

Joe's, Padonnos, and Proud Papas (Union)

Denino's, Brick

paramapotomus t1_itdd23b wrote

For pizza, I put Glendale over those other Union places. But you can't beat Padonnos meatball parm subs

1

gnitsuj t1_itdqr92 wrote

Oh nice, I think I’ve only had food from there once but I generally stick with Padonno’s and Papas because I live super close to both of them. Joe’s is very similar to Padonno’s, but I never get it because it’s on the opposite side of town. I’ll have to give Padonno’s sub a try, I never really liked their actual food other than the cheesesteaks

2

paramapotomus t1_ite68oc wrote

And now I have to try their cheesesteaks

1

gnitsuj t1_ite700v wrote

Just a heads up, they make them with whiz instead of melted cheese (which is why I like them)
