The city has bad press because it has no real PR strategy. Some years back there was that Canadian couple that got stabbed. Was national news for a couple weeks. That same week there was a shoot out RIGHT ON THE STRIP in Vegas. 2 biker gangs, over 50 shooters. Mentioned once on the nightly news then silence.

Stick to the boardwalk area and you’ll be fine, just don’t wander around the city late or really early. If you mind your own business people will leave you alone unless they decide not to
