One of my friends adopted 3 cats from the Popcorn Park Zoo and Shelter over the last 2 years. They had a positive experience adopting from them.

There is also the Freinds of Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter in Manahawkin. Their website says they are by appointment only.

Jersey Shore Animal Center in Brick is a great option, I adopted one of my dogs from there but they have plenty of cats available too.
