Instacart is already a subscription service. I don’t see why they can’t setup a deposit/refund system for plastic crates. If you get consistent deliveries, next driver can collect the prior crates or something

As a person who works for Shipt (like Instacart) the stores don't have the storage room for them. And not every customer is honest enough to return things like crates. But it would be ideal. When I shop at Target for my customers, I ask if they prefer I not bag their items. I use mine to lug them stuff to their door and then unload.

In theory that sounds nice but what is the incentive for the driver to pick them up and what do they do with them?
