That meme is awesome! Do you mind if I use it for our social media pages?

It is from https://www.birdandmoon.com/comic/four-seasons-of-bird-watching/, you'd need to reach out to them.

It's one of my favorites! Reach out to Rosemary Mosco about usage, she's awesome!!

I have to mention, I saw one of these on Reddit and signed my wife and I up as a Christmas present to her since she’s a budding amateur birder. She and I had a wonderful time, and she’s signed herself up for another one coming soon. I can’t recommend enough!

A few years ago I saw a small flock of barnacle geese on the Bayside, first time I'd seen any in person! Great area in general but definitely bundle up, the breeze can be killer

As a worker in sea bright who has been trying to figure out what kind of geese these are for many years now, thank you for this comment! They always flock to the little open area next to the rumson/sea bright bridge in the little open space between the bridge and the first house
Alethius t1_j5kskcx wrote
Definitely not barnacle geese - they’re rare migrants and I think there was one report of a single goose in Monmouth county for all of last year. You’re probably seeing brant!
ImmediateComedian6 t1_j5n1fyx wrote
Oooo they are definitely brant, good stuff mate
Joe_Jeep t1_j5kszs6 wrote
No problem! I had no idea what they were when I spotted them, I had to do some furious googling.
Were not really in their "normal" range, supposedly they don't usually go much west of Greenland, but I guess a good number have taken a liking to the Shore

Insane is probably an exaggeration, unless I am truly at risk of institutionalization by going bird watching

Are the seals there yet?
SouthJerseyJoe4Birds OP t1_j5jzffg wrote
Yes! We have a jam packed February, but will be releasing dates for Seal Walks for March soon. You can see seals on any South Jersey Wildlife outing that takes place on the Hook, though! Or just by driving around yourself!
ChocolatePleepleus t1_j5n9k0e wrote
Sandy hook was pretty busy this weekend with people looking for seals. I've never seen so many people on Gunnison with clothes on.
Edit: Actually, I think the oceanside cars were probably looking for birds and the Bayside cars looking for seals, but I don't know for sure.
bopperbopper t1_j5kyj46 wrote
Yes there are Seals… There’s a Facebook group called Sandy Hook Seal watch or something like that and you can see people reporting on their seals

I miss going to Sandy Hook every day and seeing these guys on a regular basis

That's awesome! Unfortunately, I live too far from sandy hook, but I hope your event goes well!
