The LIV Tour doesn't have the depth of talent the PGA Tour has, and their tournament setup isn't near as competitive as the PGA Tour's is. Plus TV money, the LIX Tour only has 3 players that are in their prime, the rest are past theirs to on the way to the Senior Tour, and their format is silly season golf.
What you aren't seeing here is that those players need the PGA Tour more than the PGA Tour needs them.

Is that really true though? They're all making more money than they were on the Tour, so I'm not sure how much they care.
As fans, we need the PGA tour bc it's better golf, but as long as LIV keeps poaching players (even mediocre ones) for more money, things will continue to get worse.

Phil Mickleson is starting down the barrel of the Senior Tour, even though he won the PGA Champioship two year ago, his play is on the decline (he missed a lot of cuts shooting almost last place over par). Koepka can't stay healthy and cut down his events, DeChambeau hasn't shown much since his last Major and hadn't won on the Tour since IIRC, and Partick Reed is hated amongst golf fans because he is thought of as a cheater. Cam Smith won a major but there are a lot other pros like him on the PGA Tour ready to follow. Galleries can only watch so many matches between the few players on the LIV Tour, Dustin Johnson along with those others. What fans like to see is who is coming up to be the next Tiger, the next Rory, the young guns coming up on the Tour. Plus they also love the tradition and the history. The LIV Tour is Greg Norman's way of getting back at the PGA Tour, it's backed by dark blood money. The LIV Tour guys need to play at Augusta, that's the historic event the LIV Tour doesn't have.

I don't disagree with anything you said, but most players are doing it for the money before the fame. There's not that many Rorys or Tigers out there, and for everyone else, when there is enough money on the line you'll take that over any small chance at Prestige. As long as LIV will throw massive amounts of cash at players, the PGA has a huge problem long term.

I still believe the level of competition and the prestige of the PGA Tour is better than a super funded exhibition of players who don't have to pursue winning purses, be in the top ten of the money list (which is a big deal because it reflects where you place in the tourneys they have played in, for example Matt Kuchar placing in the top 3 on the money list without winning any tourneys), making the weekend cut, etc. There is no hallowed championship or tournament on the LIV Tour, no tourney's that are Jack's or Arnold's. Where is the incentive on the LIV Tour if it's just another 15 mil on top of thier 250 mil contract? With a very shallow talent pool?
Plus add that it's funded by the Saudi's, there is a political ad running right now that is going after the Saudi's for gas prices and all the other issues with the Saudi's, and within the ad they are showing a still of players on the LIV Tour. Mickleson's getting heckled off the tee on those tour events because of it.
The Senior Tour is pretty much Bernard Langer and everyone else, including Ernie Els and Jim Furyk. Seeing a super bloated Colin Montgomerie out there looking like he is a heart attack away of course would have Mickleson mutter "Fuck me, I better get on the LIV Tour because if I miss a cut on this one...".
I like the LPGA more now too, always have, lot's of young talented players who play great golf, not the Big Hitter "GET IN THE HOLE BRO!" stadium golf where guys are spraying them off the tee, but great approach shots and short game golf. Norman said he approached that tour to get some of the lady players involved, but the LPGA said that wasn't true, I don't see how they can square that playing for the Saudi's.
I hate Greg Norman, had to work two events with him, he's an asshole to the nth degree.

What is hard to deal with are three things
A) the PGA of America and PGA Tour being separate organizations
B) the PGA and USGA being independent of each other
C) all of the Majors are not PGA Tour-run

So basically the Saudi-backed LIV is going head to head against the PGA Tour, and players who were punished by the PGA for participating in the LIV tournament are behind the antitrust lawsuit.
