1.3bn. The headline casually rounds off $300,000,000.

Not to mention:

> The USDA also provided $31 billion to help nearly a million farmers offset lower sales, prices and other losses due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2021 and 2022, the U.S. Government Accountability Office has said.

I’ll put money on the fact that these folks would also tell you with a straight face that they “never received no government bailout like those ivory-tower coastal elites!” Theyre too busy doing “real work” and “paying taxes to support the college loan bailout for basket weaving majors”.

I live in a big farming state and they absolutely do this! Complain about welfare and freeloaders and take a big ol' handout all the time. Too much rain= disaster declaration and handout. Not enough rain = disaster declaration and handout. Granted the local economies would also be hurt if the farmers were not propped up but the fact they are blatant hypocrites is what grinds my gears. Most vote Republican but love that socialism.

I'm not sure the average farmer would say that at all, but I don't know many farmers so I guess I'm not a good source.
