It's a good thing that you've survived OP. I 've got a theory though. What if the black murky hands or appendeges that you saw emerged from the others were some sort of evil spirits possessing the host or dark sides of an individual and the rain water (God's tears) was trying to expel them from the host. Just like those worm parasites coming out of mantises.
