I really like this headline. The article makes sense though on why. Keep spamming him.

To some other sub. Because this is not Oniony in any way.

Yeah, I was expecting some weird lawsuit on the idea that not everything they sell is a dollar. This is an actual case of customer abuse

The Oniony part is that the Ohio AG is actually doing something useful, sensible, and reasonable.

Ain't that the truth. Usually he is just figuring out ways to get salary and pension at the same time and claiming little girls that he specifically denied abortion care for was "making it all up".

Idk the headline made me think he was going to block one opening in his area to stop the poors from entering his nice side of town. I think thats a bit oniony, but the article itself is pretty standard.

I shall. Let the reddit gods decide lol. Theres just so many that are barely if at all oniony at the moment.

Meanwhile in Alabama our AG is ignoring blatantchild labor violations in plants that have already been fined for their amputation hazards and declaring that women who take plan b can be jailed for child abuse.

Good to see there are some AG's that are actually doing things to help the people of their state. Can we borrow him?

Better headline here: "Ohio AG attempts to protect consumers in Ohio." While I dislike republicans more than the next guy, I'm unbiased enough to realize what he's attempting to do here isn't bad.

killerbee2319 t1_j48v5fl wrote

But let's face it, did you actually believe a Republican wouldn't side with Dollar General and charge their customers with a crime instead?

Honestly, all states should grill DG. Such a shitty corporation.

Until there are fines for non-compliance, I suspect the practice will continue..

"Restraining order" is one of the most deceptive ways this headline could have been phrased. Yes, technically he is requesting an order that will pose a restraint to the company. But Restraining Orders are also a thing. Being that misleading is journalistic malpractice.

DragonGarlicBreath t1_j49cttx wrote

Thank you, I was starting to think I was even more ignorant of legal terms than I thought.

It sounds like he's seeking an injunction?

Johannason t1_j49e5go wrote

I don't know what the thing he's doing is supposed to be called, I just know it's not what the headline implies. The only thing oniony about this article is how badly the author fucked up the title.
If it weren't for the clickbait of "What lol the AG wants Dollar General stores to avoid him" then this would never get views.

2

Schiffy94 t1_j49dwzq wrote

So he's not asking for General Dollar to stay more than fifty feet away from him at all times?

TerrorNova49 t1_j48cwle wrote

Not Oniony… I had expected some trademark issue over “General” or something. This is a straight consumer protection story.

3

astroFOUND t1_j49jvq4 wrote

He's trying to help people not get fucked over at the register. What a cut-up, amirite!?

jl_theprofessor t1_j4ahq58 wrote

Oh yeah. Dollar General basically has like, 30% errors on it’s listed prices or something. It’s a major legal violation against consumers.

Wait, what? You think the clerks (well the one they have) is going to change out price sticker tags on the shelf? The stores make them do the work of 2 for the pay of one and can't find anyone to work for them half the time because if that.
