Bikes in general should be regulated similar to how cars and scooters are, including requiring mirrors. Require registration, and inspections for eBikes since clearly they’ve become a hazard to an extent. The manufacturers should be regulated to make sure they’re using approved safe batteries.

Next we can regulate running shoes too almost got hit by one of them runners today when I was browsing Reddit and walking down the street. Make it so they can only wear boots unless they pass their running test or something.

Something as simple as showing a safety video and take a short quiz (no more than 10 simple questions) when registering for citibike or buying a bike would do wonders to awareness.
