I mean ... their HQ is right on Walnut Street.

And then there's our amazing Library.

(FLP's online databases include one that promises Philadelphia Magazine, but it turns out to go back only to 2005, and plain text-only anyway.)

A couple more digital pokes turned up a selection from the previous decade, courtesy of a former editorial director of PhillyMag.

Just browsing? or looking for a specific cover? or ...?

I’m thinking of a cover that seemed to have a photograph of a “typical” old South Philly Italian American lady. The title was something like “Is South Philly dying out?” Or something outrageous like that. Or something alluding to how South Philly was moving to jersey or whatever. Idunno. Like I said, I saw this cover on a page of many covers inside a relatively more recent philly mag that was laying around at a barbershop. This was some time before the pandemic too. After the reopening, they must’ve cleared out all their old magazines and I haven’t been able to dig it up. So now I’m like… What was that article even alluding too? If I’m accurate about the theme of the article, it seems like they were about 7-10 years too soon before white-flighters left us in droves. Unless I’m wrong.. So yeah just curious.

P.S. - Shout out to those of us who stayed and didn’t give in to blockbusting racist hysteria peddlers. We’re stronger and more diverse for it now. 💪🏼👍🏼

P.S. part II - I’m not calling Philadelphia Magazine racist hysteria peddlers. They were just doing a story. I was really referring to wild west days of Real Estate when the industry used to freak people out and get homeowners to sell out.
