Bands don’t seem to ever skip NYC, LA and other similar sized cities. Yet frequently it feels like Philly is hit or miss on getting concerts. Sometimes they’re picking close cities like Camden, so not a huge deal. But how is Philly not a “must stop there” city for all big acts?

Edit: These are the three plausible reasons I can glean from real responses versus most of the knee jerk arguments:

1.) Ticketmaster / LiveNation are contracted with Camden, or those shows could be hosted at Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo has its own ticketing platform (that also sucks).

2.) Avoid paying taxes by not playing in Philly proper

3.) Promoters stipulate how close other tour dates can be to their tour date. If you have a show in Atlantic City and the other in Hershey you hit two big markets (Central PA and Philly metro) versus just one by playing only Philly.

Go Birds.
