Any idea why they closed? Covid and then never re opened for some reason?

My understanding is that it was already in pretty steep decline by the time of this 2017 Inquirer article. I think COVID was just the last straw. https://www.inquirer.com/philly/news/pennsylvania/philadelphia/Franklin-Mercantile-Chess-club.html
