I just got off of work and I’m waiting for the 16 bus. Google maps and the septa app both say that the bus is on time. Yay. I literally watch the bus take a different way in front of me and I have zero idea why. It’s 10:30 so the bus is empty, there’s no construction, and there’s no detour signs or etc so I’m just like 🫠

Anyone know why this happens

If the bus is full, drivers won’t stop and pack the bus even tighter unless passengers are getting off.

If they took a different way from where you were they’re on detour. I stood at a corner for about 30 minutes until I realized this. The only way to know is through the SEPTA app, the app sucks it’s difficult to find your exact stop then you have to understand the streets and everything to tell exactly where the detour is but it sounds like it was a detour.

Sometimes they put signs up at the stops sometimes they don’t.

For everyone else commenting, one other guy said it but yes if the bus is “full” they won’t stop unless someone else is getting off. I’ve never been passed up but I only get on/off at market st which is always a stop.

If the bus is already full, drivers don't stop won't stop unless a passenger is getting off the bus.

Partially filled, scheduled, sign-glowing buses pass by though. Especially on the 2 route, in my case.

As a tourist I got skipped twice in a day. I don't know what I did wrong.

You didn't do anything. The drivers can get away with it, so they speed through stops to get done with their route faster. I don't drive, but I still avoid SEPTA if I can these days...

Honest answer? Because there are literally no repercussions for the driver doing so. And they know it.

Seriously, what are you going to do? Report it? Yeah, right. And if you do, what do you think will actually happen as a result?

Best case scenario is that the person at the other end manages to keep a straight face while "taking your report." Yes sir, zjheyyy88, that's terrible! We'll get right on it. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
