The first time I walked into this new Target it hurt as I remembered what the layout was when it was Kaufmann's. That building will always be Kaufmann's for me. I miss roaming through all the floors.

I agree with you 100%. I miss the days of roaming the floors and finding bargains. The holiday decor excitement.

The never-ending escalators. Trying to find your mom using them. "Did I go up three sets of escalators or four? Is this women's wear or furniture? Where does that highway go to? Am I right? Am I wrong? MY GOD! WHAT HAVE I DONE?"

I love and miss this Kaufmann's so much. I had mixed emotions, remembering all of the floors and all of the fun. I am so so so so happy to see the building have a new life. I will also forever miss Kaufmann's.

When I first moved to Pittsburgh I got a second job as seasonal help there (Christmas 1999). On my first shift, someone dropped me off in front of some shirts and said "straighten this up" and then they left me there with nothing to do for the rest of the night.

I asked every employee who came by what else I could do and they always said they'd ask but I don't think I ever saw the same person twice. After 3 hours of boredom I decided it wasn't worth it and just went home, then I dodged their calls for a week when they tried to schedule me for more shifts.

I've heard it's really hard to get hired at Costco since they pay well. They probably don't have a lot of turnover as a result.

Today you would have so much to do that you may possibly won’t be able to finish it and if not, they would Fire you.

It's funny, I was downtown this weekend and had a very similar thought walking through the Union Trust building. Thinking of all the people who passed through that building at one time. And how now people make memories there in different ways. But eventually whether it be because we'll kill each other off, or that we'll figure out how to leave Earth to colonize other worlds, it's likely all this that we've built will sit empty and then eventually reclaimed until there's virtually no trace they were ever there and all.
