Hey, I had fun watching a movie on my laptop then reading my kindle by legit candle light. (but, yeah, thrilled my power is back on and that those people worked through the night)
14 hours?! Confused laugh in Penn Power speak. See you in a week, maybe?
Yep, Duquesne Light over here............. I know it's been busy guys but it's been 24 hrs now. House is getting pretty cold, fridge is getting warm.
Put the food in the house while you get in the fridge, problem solved
Shit............ Why didn't I think of that.
Don’t forget you can always buy some dry ice and pop it in the fridge to buy yourself another day, if you need.
I do have a small generator, I am rotating the extention cords between my refrigerator and chest freezer to keep things going.
Glad to hear it - hope your power comes back soon.
Thanks, I appreciate it.
Same and honestly pretty pissed about it. Expecting not to have power until Monday while my house is freezing. It's ridiculous.
Ya the Monday evening estimate was pretty awesome. That would be more than 48 hours for us.
We also have electric hot water and the house is on well water. The natives are already getting restless, I can't imagine what another day of no heat or water will be like. Especially getting ready for school and work.
I'm already planning to call in sick tomorrow for that reason. Glad I have that option.
Sigh......... I will have to ferry everyone to the grandparents later today for baths and showers. My wife and I both have staggered 10 hour days tomorrow and neither one of us work at a place where we can just call off either......... Well I mean we could but she does taxes and it's the busy season for our customers so while I could call off the only person we would be screwing over would be ourselves.
Yeah. That's exactly why I strayed far away from tax preparation! We just got power about 5 minutes ago hope you're soon to follow!
Good call, she is always so stressed out this time of year. It really is a years worth of work in a few months
Lol I'm on West Penn, they're a little better about it, plus it was a 500+ customer outage with 3 more nearby, so it probably made sense from a resource-useage/efficiency standpoint to send one team out and knock 4 easy outages (they were all simple trees-on-wires issues) off the list.
Going on almost 24 hours here
Also, 10/10 for ya'll at those stoplights. People were very respectful and treated them like stop signs. I was very impressed. It's not our first rodeo apparently.
They are the best and get no love at all
IMO Pittsburgh power companies are pretty great at keeping services operating and restoring them when outages occur.
Also the workers fixing the Xfinity internet, TV and phone in the Greensburg area. I hate the prices I pay but it’s all back up and running in 12 hours.
Woof! The power was out at my job for like 2 hours... glad we didn't have to go a whole 14!
24 hours here and still no power best estimate they can give me is Monday at 8PM.
Ya we blew past 24 hours earlier today. They are apparently sticking to the Monday at 8pm thing pretty hard, we are still without power.
It's not like the pipes will freeze or anything but the house is at 51 degrees and we are heading into night number 2 without heat. Everyone is bundled up, I think every blanket in the house has been deployed at this point. Even that really ugly one that someone's great aunt gave us as a wedding gift 10 years ago.
Sorry Aunt Edith, even if we never loved the gift we certainly appreciate it now.
Man I must have it lucky. My power didn’t even so much as flicker throughout the entire storm. I’m relatively far south of the city proper though.
There are still 120 outages in dqe territory. This wind storm was a monster.
26hours here... Duquesne Light said Monday by 8pm... I keep reporting the outage every 4hours... and the whole neighborhood is still out.. and we're not even on the outage map!!!!
I’m in Gibsonia and my powers been off 23 hours with it not coming on until possibly 8 pm tomorrow. Thanks really sucks.
Remember the brief moment a couple of years ago when we acknowledged that the people who make civilization run are more important than dudes in suits pushing piles of money around?
Grocery store employees still doing shift work, 4 hours short of full time a week, near minimum wage, no benefits
I still don’t have power lol

Shouts to Brett Kiesel and Casey Hampton

Legit. Idk what I'd do if Kenny suffers a career ending injury
Can you cut off power to the fascists while you’re up there?
I appreciate women

Definitely unsung heroes. Constant assess to electricity is way up there on the take for granted list. Maybe only behind clean water.
