This convo is great and all but none of this passion is expressed when people have to share the road with a cyclist or when someone mentions how much more economical bus/train travel is. Or how we need fewer roads because of traffic violence. This is all connected. Just wish everyone was on board with the concept of at least trying to reduce emissions / :

That flight cost the environment more than the average person does in year. Traffic violence is due to the sheer amount of bad drivers around. Cyclists don't obey the laws of the road but expect all the rules to protect them. Tons of people take trains and buses. I don't get what you're trying to say.

Cyclist rode wrong way in bus lane in Oakland, then made a left through a red light.

You’re all over the place with assumptions. Not sure why all the downvotes just for pointing out the inconsistencies of the frustrations being echoed in this thread.
My point is- when the public tries to embrace alternative transportation, because yes air travel is detrimental to the environment and tax payers pockets, everyone throws a fit and claims alternative transportation isn’t necessary. Or starts blaming cyclists for their own inability to maintain SA on the road. Or they don’t want to see their tax money spent on more logical infrastructure solutions to solve the “cyclists think they own the road” issue.
Come on, it’s only a healthy convo. If you just want to yell about something then go to therapy.
