I wish I knew. Grindr and Scruff are absolutely terrible the past few years. Especially if you don't live in Shadyside or Squirrel Hill or idk what the next trendy neighborhood is. When I lived in Columbus I started a litter sweeping group and met a few guys that way.

I'd recommend volunteering or hobby group first to make friends, and then go from there. I haven't made the time for anything this year due to a crazy work schedule but I probably will now that things are slowing down.

Also, there's a LGBT singles meetup group that meets once a month. They're meeting tonight at a Halloween event if you can make it. I have gone to their events before and they're pretty solid.

The very first one I went to was a Friday evening Warhol Museum trip with dinner afterward. I made a couple friends there. They've done some wine tour near the Strip I believe, a North Park full moon night hike, queer cinema get-together, etc. Kenny plans some really cool things and it's well-organized. Unfortunately sometimes the notifications go out waayyyyy late so definitely subscribe to that group and stay on top of the invites. I won't be able to make the zombie thing tonight so hopefully something good pops up again next month. Also, it's not all guys. I think it's usually like 60% men, 40% women, thereabouts.

Yea that's awesome they do something different throughout the year, I was worried about the organization of it but you make it sound pretty good and smooth. I also like that it's a good mix of the community, I'm a gay man but I enjoy hanging out with everyone, also makes sparking conversation a bit easier. Thank you for this, I'm looking forward to going to one, probably not the zombie event but the next one

5801 and Blue Moon are a good start. Would have suggested There Ultra Lounge for an older after work crowd but it’s gone sadly.

I have been to both of those, I enjoyed 5801 a little more than blue moon as it seemed busier. Definitely a younger crowd it seemed but good turnout of people enjoying themselves for both

Mid 30s gay here. Maybe 5801 (poker and darts). Stonewall sports league.

Otherwise, just make friends with locals at your neighborhood dive.

Harold's haunt is a fairly new bar that just opened up in Millvale (Just outside the city.) I've been many times and always had a good time, the owner is very sociable and talks to almost everyone.

Article on the bar

While not application to gay men, I run a group capped "The Fabulous Femmes and Thems of Pittsburgh" and it's a mix of queer women, transwomen, nonbinary femmes and some cisgender women as well.
