This is where we have dropped unopened food.
So I have a box of those little pouches of food like this:

The box is open but the pouches are not. Do you know if they will take that?
I don’t work there but as long as the food itself is sealed, it’s likely ok.

Joe is a great guy that runs a great organization. Last I knew he could really use food donations.
This is unopened food?
What about Animal Friends?
Yes please donate to Animal Friends! They have a pet food pantry that is run entirely on in-kind donations and distribute thru food pantries across the city. They are short staffed and may take a few days to get back to you but you can call or email their pet retention team and someone will get back to you.
Animal Friends has a couple of large bins in their outer lobby for unopened food and supply donations
Animal Friends will happily take it.
If this is unopened, I would suggest contacting Biggies Bullies as they are always looking for food donation for their rescues. If you cant get ahold of them I would start contacting the other rescues around the city. I know most will only accept unopened but good luck
Try https://petsearchpa.org/ they just got a bunch of rescues in and might be able to use it.
Oh, they are amazing. My sweet potato Sadie came from the Virgin Islands through them back in 2018, I can't recommend Pet Search highly enough! They were so wonderful, helpful, and loving towards pups.
They were awesome there. Picked up my second rescue 3 weeks ago. She came from St. Thomas. Mary Puppins. My other Sarah Jessica Barker.
Those names are awesome! This is my sweet girl Sadie
Such a good girl! Cute.
Shelters in general are really overwhelmed with messages/calls right now. I’d check shelter websites (they usually say what donations they accept) and then just physically go and drop it off.
I’ll take some if you want to get rid of some. Can pick it up tomorrow. PM me if you want I’ll meet somewhere
What kind?
I would donate it to the humane animal rescue of Pittsburgh!
Pretty sure the Dogstop on west liberty has running donations. Inside their building.
I usually donate stuff to Pet Supplies Plus. They have bins near the entrance where you can leave items for a local rescue.
You can also look at donating to humane food pantries- many people going to the pantry also have pets.
Animal friends, also local food banks will take it sometimes
...You tried to donate dog food to a homeless shelter? What the fuck?
Is this a joke?
“Second Avenue Commons addresses these through a 3-P Approach centered on People, PETS, and Possessions. Pittsburgh Mercy, throughout the process, communicated their desire to create a space that is welcoming to those who generally avoid traditional shelters, including couples, PET OWNERS, those in the LGBTQIA community, and those struggling with mental health or drug/alcohol addictions.”

You’re embarrassingly ignorant.

Humane Animal Rescue allows you to drop off donations. Walk in during business hours and drop off at the cart in the front.
