This reminds me of a very outdated joke about an Indian chief who takes a squab out into the woods. They come across a pile of poop in the trail and the squab asks what it is. The chief says he must use all his senses in the woods.

Chief: Use your eyes

Squab: It looks like shit

Chief: Use your nose

Squab: it smells like shit

Chief: how does it feel?

Squab, hesitantly: it feels like shit

Chief: Taste it

Squab: Taste it??

Chief: Taste!

Squab: (puts some in his mouth) It tastes like shit

Chief: oh, it’s shit, don’t step in it.
