Hi all, been searching around for local bakeries that specialize in (or at least regularly carry and list on their menu) Boston cream pie in advance of a family member's birthday. Searches have mostly come up dry - found one Yankee Magazine article from like six years ago recommending Scialo Bros. Wondering if anyone has any recommendations. We're in NP so anything west of downtown would be great. Thanks in advance.

I'd maybe check with LaSalle bakery? I have no direct experience but they get recommended enough where it's worth a phone call to check.

Lasalle doesn’t do Boston cream pies. You can find Boston cream pie cakes there or at Whole Foods.

But if you’re looking for an actual pie, you might be better off making it yourself. It’s not a common item and most bakeries only make them during the holiday season.

If you can make the journey, Wright's Dairy Farm makes excellent Boston cream pie

Scialo's is great for many pastries (I go there maybe once a week for hermits), but I'm not sure I'd rank their Boston cream pie among the best.

I would go with, as others have suggested, either Gregg's (it's enormous and you don't even have to pre-order) or Wright's Dairy Farm.

I haven't been to Wright's Providence satellite shop, but you can always call and ask. If you do end up having to go to North Smithfield, you won't regret it. There's so much good food there you'll gain weight just by looking at it.

I would try PVD pies. It's probably more of a special order cake then an everyday stocked cake.
