I was looking into the Room & Works lofts on Cromwell and all the previous posts are from a few years ago. Many of the reviews online are glowing, which in itself is suspicious because I don't know anyone that has ever left a positive review of an apartment building. Generally apartment management I've dealt with sucks and managers are always rude and don't want to help very much.
Is the area alright? Does anyone have any first hand experience?

Hey , I don't live at room and works, but I know a couple of things about the area. It's on the west end, probably cheaper than other neighborhoods in the city but that group of mills over there is very nice. In the mill you have Knead donuts, phenomenal donut shop. Behind you will be long live beer works. It's a popular brewery, and I believe the two places share a courtyard. The courtyard is beautiful. I guess the idea of the mill is to live there and work there? I'm not entirely sure. Anyways, the neighborhood is a bit sketchy but I wouldn't really worry about my safety if I lived there. A bit run down, though. Anyways, wish I knew more

I don't know anything about the lofts, management, etc. But it is in a bad area.

My friend lives there and they like it a lot. The units are nice and management has always responded to them quickly. Every time I've visited it's been quiet and everyone seems friendly. They have no complaints anyways. The price is kind of rough though

Not going to say anything about the owner of the building because I know nothing. However Far West closed because the owners moved to New Orleans. And High Dive closed because the building owner lost the liquor license. I've been to both places often enough to get that info from both of them before they closed.

It's super overpriced for the neighborhood. Like, criminally.

The property owner controlled the liquor license, and put into place draconian restrictions about what the bars could and couldn’t do (especially about using the patio) that it was impossible for anyone to be successful there. And my understanding was he didn’t “lose” the license, he just didn’t want to go through the process of renewing it for them.

They stole my security deposit because my “kitchen needed cleaning” yet we left the apartment spotless and nothing needed to be done except repaint (which they do according to the lease) the owner of the building also got charged recently for attacking a commercial tenant of his as well

So you are saying they didn't force Far West out (because they moved to New Orleans, not got kicked out) and you infact don't know what you are talking about?

Theres enough issues at room & works you don't have to make things up lol.

The patio? You mean the entire indoor space that they were free to use (and did use)? Or the little outdoor space that they were also allowed to use?
