There's a facebook group called RIFC Rhode Island Film Collaborative that meets periodically at a bar. It is an open format kind of scenario for amateur and professional filmmakers to network and discuss projects. You might want to check out one of their meetings.

Thank you! More of a watcher and appreciator than involved in the creative side but sounds like there could be some nice people to meet. New to the area so trying to find some like minded people and places

Not sure about official meetups but definitely check out film screenings at The Columbus Theater, they’ve been showing some smaller great films recently that aren’t being played at the larger cinemas.

In a lot of ways, Columbus has been filling the void left by Cable Car. They screen some really unique films you’d never see elsewhere. Can’t recommend it enough!

Dreadphile used to be crazy active every month for years, but I think the guy running it took a break a while back. Looks like the page hasn't posted in about a year.
