Trying to help a good friend here. Any places for singles in Richmond that are into horror films, Stephen King, etc. I know of a few groups on Facebook where he can go meet new people, but they aren't really updated. He is going to try some apps this week but ..ehh. Sent him some MeetUp links but again they don't seem very active. Someone told me about horror night at McCormick's, but unsure if that's still a thing. Definitely going to take him to Wonderland one night, maybe Gwar Bar. He's been to Fallout, but not a member. Any recs would be greatly appreciated. Hes super nice, late 30s, good job, & his own place. Everyone deserves to find love in RVA!

Hot for Pizza does horror movies on Mondays. WaxMoon is a great place for horror fans. Rest in Pieces is very macabre but def horror adjacent. As a massive horror fan and nerd, these are my go to’s. Oh and Hollywood Cemetery.

Not a good way to meet people but a top tier date idea after someone is found. During October the Byrd shows a ton of horror films and if you go to the right shows the organ player will play spooky pipe organ songs before the horror film starts.

Getting into the metal scene is probably where you’ll meet the most horror fans. The Canal Club has tons of shows of lesser known metal bands.

Fallout used to do them on Mondays, but idk if that's still a thing. Haven't been in there in years.

McCormick's definitely does it still. If you go in later in the week they usually have a running list of what's going to be played on Sunday on the chalk board over the bar, left of the register if you're facing it.

Sunday nights have been horror movie night at McCormicks (shockoe location) for like over a decade.

Always solid picks from Josef on the TVs and a good following of people.

The same dudes that own Hot for Pizza also own Cobra Cabana and they also play horror movies on any given night (mixed in with classics like Road House etc).

Can also vouch for GwarBar & Wonderland as being good destinations for horror movies, although in most cases they are just on the TVs muted with captions while music plays in the background.

Wax Moon. Browse the horror movies and swag, and play in the horror themed pinball arcade.

When you say they do horror movies on Monday’s, is it like the tv behind the bar has a movie on without volume and with subtitles, and nobody’s paying attention? Or is it like max volume and the whole place is watching the movie?

A friend and I have been talking about starting up a horror movie club! If we get it going I'll definitely post on here about it.

While horror nights at McCormick's are usually awesome content, but it's as dead as disco for meeting people. It's usually a handful of people who either came as a small group. Also there's a movie playing, so people generally are trying to listen to it. Although, for classic scenes everyone can recreate the dialog or joke around.

Back before 2020, we had monthly or bi-monthly meet-ups with our horror book club and movie club. Unfortunately build outs and events for our haunted attraction and escape rooms have taken all of our time... plus the pandemic shut things down for a while. Maybe we can try to bring it back around in 2023? There were some horror trivia nights last year at Strangeways Brewing. Join the RVA Horror Club and I'll see if we can have a movie night sometime soon...
