You are correct. Fox is owned by Sinclair still. But they are both broadcast from the same station. They use the same content as NBC12 and reporters.

Probably run under some sort of Joint Operating Agreement. That’s relatively common for newspapers where there’s a morning and evening paper in the same location owned by seperate media companies. The presses are usually owned and operated by the JOA. Tucson and Detroit both used to have JOAs.

I used to work for Fox Richmond. They (Sinclair) pay NBC12 to air their news local news here in Richmond. Not uncommon in local markets.

WWBT actually wasn’t owned by Sinclair. They just entered into a shared services agreement where WWBT would run the news/sales operations.
