It is far too late to stop or reduce the spread of misinformation online. Bad actors that are knowingly spreading misinformation stand behind "my free speech!!!" and "I'm being silenced!" and the target audience eats it up.

More people than you think are reasonable but locked in an echo chamber due to where they happen to live. Yeah this will make some people dig in further but most of those are probably lost causes.
