It’s not the AI going rogue that people are concerned about. It’s about people using the AI for harmful things. That is ridiculous orders of magnitude more likely and more dangerous.
We’re talking about the most powerful tools created in human history, ones that are already at a level to cause mass disruption in dangerous hands.

I agree with you when talking about an AI that is very good but falls far short of superintelligence. GPT4 falls in that category. Even the current open source AIs, modified in the hands of hackers, will be very dangerous things.
But we're moving fast enough that the superintelligence that I used to think was 10-20 years away now looks like 3-10 years away. That's the one that can truly go rogue.
