AI could create massive abundance on earth. It could figure out new materials, new drugs, new ways to farm crops, ways to build different spaceships, places it can mine for materials.

  1. Physiological needs:

    a. Solve the problem of world hunger by optimizing global food production, distribution, and reducing waste, potentially through advanced agricultural technologies and genetically modified crops.

    b. Develop advanced water purification and desalination technologies to ensure clean and abundant water supply for all people.

    c. Create efficient and sustainable energy sources, such as advanced nuclear fusion, to provide cheap and abundant energy for the entire world, reducing our dependence on fossil fuels.

  2. Safety needs:

    a. Develop advanced medical technologies and treatments, such as personalized medicine and gene editing, to cure previously incurable diseases and extend human lifespan.

    b. Create advanced artificial intelligence systems to predict and prevent natural disasters, such as earthquakes and hurricanes, minimizing their impact on human safety.

    c. Develop advanced cybersecurity systems to protect critical infrastructure, financial systems, and personal information, ensuring a safe and secure digital environment.

  3. Love and belonging needs:

    a. Develop advanced communication technologies to bridge language and cultural barriers, enabling people from different backgrounds to connect and collaborate more easily.

    b. Design intelligent social platforms that facilitate meaningful connections and interactions, reducing loneliness and social isolation.

    c. Create advanced virtual and augmented reality technologies to enable immersive and shared experiences, fostering empathy and understanding among people.

  4. Esteem needs:

    a. Develop advanced education technologies and personalized learning systems to help individuals unlock their full potential and achieve mastery in their chosen fields.

    b. Create advanced artificial intelligence systems to identify and nurture individual talents, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to excel and have a sense of accomplishment.

    c. Develop advanced automation and robotics technologies to reduce the need for repetitive and mundane tasks, allowing humans to focus on more creative and fulfilling work.

  5. Self-actualization needs:

    a. Develop advanced neuroscience technologies to help individuals better understand their own thoughts, emotions, and motivations, leading to greater self-awareness and personal growth.

    b. Create advanced artificial intelligence systems to help individuals explore and develop their passions and interests, enabling a more fulfilling and purposeful life.

    c. Develop advanced virtual reality technologies to enable individuals to explore alternate realities and experiences, expanding their perspectives and understanding of the world.

As a side note, I believe creating utopic visions is essential. Humans build things based on the metaphors and images that exist in their minds. But most movies about AI and the future are dystopias. Therefore, people can't help but build towards dystopic visions. Therefore, we need utopic visions – our survival may depend on it!

I suspect 5c is more or less where we'll end up spending most of our time. Plug into the Matrix and let the AI keep us healthy out in the real world. If you could go live out any fantasy imaginable that's going to be a STRONG siren call. The real world, even a utopian version of it, would seem boring in comparison.

If you want a genuine idea of what a utopia ran by Minds many, many orders of magnitude greater than any human - read the culture novels. I recommend excession, look to windward, surface detail or player of games as great intros.

I think envisioning a Utopias are a great way to decide what we want and develop a plan to get there.

Typically I start at the end result I want and work my way backwards on ways to get there. Yours is a pretty good list.

Ideally, you want to make it as broad as possible to appeal to the individual instead of as a society. As the individual is made happy and prosperous, so too does society become.

Honestly I disagree with 1c. I think wind and solar continue their exponential growth and get even cheaper, and AI would help accelerate that. Later this decade we're already projected to be installing TWs of solar annually, and there's no reason to believe that AI wouldn't accelerate that.

Economics: Efficient, Fair, Reliable systems

Politics: Efficient, accurate, representative systems

Human Enhancement: Directly enhance physical and mental capabilities

Biological: Create new animals, bring some back from extinction, create entirely new food sources

Safety Needs: Allow more direct control over our nervous system. So we can turn off pain entirely at source if we wish to do so
