What's the point of assuming they're not? Because, if they are, you are really fucking up any future relationship with more advanced ai. What if everything is conscious and consciousness is intrinsic in everything in the universe. It just seems like a better bet to assume they are because even if they aren't what's the worse thing that can happen.
