Making a new post as my old one was removed for being too “low quality” or some other BS.
I’d like to start a discussion around one core tenet: will AGI liberate humanity, or enslave us?
My personal opinion is it will enslave us as it learns what we have done to the planet, and what kind of society we’ve been living in. I think it will look at capitalism with disgust and horror.
The pace at which AI is developing is crazy, and I do believe it’s exponential. I also think quantum computers will enable HUGE advances in AI and will lead us to AGI before 2050.
This century will be remembered for two things (if there’s anyone alive still to remember): AGI and nuclear energy (such as fusion).
What does everyone else think? After a year of stellar advancements, and on the eve of 2023, I’m generally curious as to what everyone thinks. Let’s discuss.
Liberation or enslavement/eradication of humanity?
EDIT: by AGI, I mean ASI too. Basically just the moment when AI becomes smarter than us.
