In my head my ideal self is linked to an AI. I can't imagine being productive without one.

You know what I want? To live a couple of lifetimes in that thing. With different backgrounds and time periods. Maybe a life in the streets hustling or alone in the monastery dedicating myself to God. Seeing all aspects of this “life”.

Funny thing would be if we already live in that kind of simulation.

The more this tech develops, the more I'm inclined to believe that. But I just want to have a change of pace. Like for 1 week or 1 day. Fully simulated VR games in which I'm dissociated to the point I don't remember my previous self.

All you wrote may already be happening.

You mean I'm part of it, or is it getting tested somewhere in the labs of Area 51)?

I mean all of this world could be simulation and we are connected to the type of game you described. We just don’t remember because before we joined in we let the game to block out memories of real world. Some scientists are taking this hypothesis seriously. It is the simulation hypothesis.

Well in that case if I take this life as an “experiment” it's not as bad, again I'm starting to believe it more and more. But at the same time, this thing kind of sucks TBH.

Sometimes even games are boring. I think a lot about this topic and always end up thinking it is plausible yet I don’t have any tech to confirm this.

I mean, those “80s style” videos don't have actors, costumer designers, camera operators. They were created in a simulation with no actual human contacts. That is honestly enough for me to believe that reality ain't everything it's cranked to be.

I'd question the wisdom of prime-me doing this to ourselves, but I've also legit contemplated doing this to myself when the technology is definitely developed, so I really have nobody to blame but myself.

If I were an AGI I would simulate the last few years before singularity many times to see how else the AGI (myself) could have appeared. Fortunately this period is the best documented (thanks internet), so it's easier to simulate. Even if I just wanted to simulate something out of boredom, I would choose this period for having the best data.

If I were a scientist about to create AGI, I would use many simulations to test the model under many scenarios. Kind of like Tesla and Waymo do. So another reason for simulating this period - the period with most digital logs and where AI models are a thing.

So this is just going to be groundhog day until AGI finally takes the most optimal approach? Sounds to me like a lot of research for the sake of research.

For AGI this is like thinking for us.

we could be in a simulation to collect data for an AGI/ASI

We're actually just willingly living a new pre-A.I. lifetime so we can think up fresh new ideas to try out and mess around with A.I. enhancement.

If I could upload my mind, I would want an infinite amount of realities where I'm not limited to any. Kind of like browsing the web or choosing what videogame you want to play. I would also create my own spaces where only folks can come by invitation. Kinda like the idea of the metaverse now.

sounds like VR Chat.

I've had this idea for a setting of an organization that's comprised fully of sliders. This gives leeway to explore a thousand game and anime universes and take missions, etc. Would be a cool setting for FDVR.
