What is great is that she had to plan for it. She knew shed be up there for christmas and she used up valuable personal space for those items. Im not hating. Im loving it. Not too many people plan to be fun these days.

I think one of the astronauts somehow managed to smuggle a gorilla suit up there just to play a prank, which I find hilarious.

There was no smuggling. Mark Kelly tried to send up the suit twice for his brother Scott Kelly. The crew on board the ISS didn't know about it ahead of time but that's not smuggling.

Which sadly let to NASA making such costumes part of their PR which takes away all the creativity of it.

Hell, I'm guessing this was organized in a similar way.

Scott Kelly wrote in Endurance about, at the end of the his year in space, having to take a while bunch of Fotos of him in the cupola with all sorts of different shirts on to essentially create PR pics for organisations he is associated with. IIRC he was in that mentioned gorilla clip on an earlier ISS mission of his.

What, you don't always pack your "naughty" socks when going to space?

Peggy Whitson is a legend. 10 overall for most time spent in space, 9th longest single space mission duration, 2nd longest spaceflight by a woman, oldest woman to fly in space, most spacewalks by a woman, and first woman to head the Astronaut office for NASA. She was absolutely prepared for that flight.
