I would have rather they kept using Washington Football Team

The problem is no one knew how to reference it. “It’s the eagles vs the football team” instead of “it’s the eagles vs Washington”.

DC is two syllables. Even Aikman could do that.

I live in DC. People called it “the football team” all the time and it was so dumb. No one calls Manchester United “the football club”

Well, yeah, they're United. The Football team hasn't been since Snyder bought it.

I would rather it be the Washington Team Football or better known as WTF.

Yes, of all the awesome names they could’ve picked for the DC area “commanders” is just so lame. Every time I hear it I think of a football team that’s playing through the chafe because the other team stole their undies from the locker room.

What other sports parallels would they have were teams have gone through multiple name changes in a 5 year period? Maybe the Seattle Pilots? (But I want to say they moved cities and only changed once, to the Brewers)

I would have even taken “ The Commandments” first commandment… Thou Shall Not Win AGAINST US!

Same. Going back to "Redskins" is probably not realistic but I would have loved Red Hawks or Red Tails. Commanders just never resonated with me.
