Hello everyone! I am often looking for PC parts and was wondering if there are any stores other than Best Buy that has a good selection? Thanks.

Altec on South Campbell opposite Krispy Kreme always seems to be a proper place with knowledgeable people who don’t want to rip you off. My machine wasn’t starting, so I took it in for a diagnosis- in 5 minutes the guy had got it to boot up, no charge. I immediately bought a keyboard. Would recommend them before Best Buy.

There’s also a place just round the corner on Republic Road opposite Chase between Republic road and James River, can’t recall the name, but it seemed quite well stocked and the guy - Steve Yates, was very friendly and seemed very professional.

Altec is no longer there anymore. Found out when I was going to swing by there after I ate at Bairs.

I've heard them come in conversation before. How are they?

Haven’t purchased actual parts from them. I did have to take in my PC when I couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it myself. They were absolutely terrific. Texted me throughout the process to let me know where they were with it and what options I had to fix it. They went above and beyond in my opinion. Would 100% use them again.

They had parts on display there. Though I don’t know how wide of a selection they have.

I used them once to replace my laptop charging port. This was back when they didn’t even have a sign on the building yet and they had just opened. I can honestly say that I had a great experience. Professional, up front about costs, texted me updates, threw in some stickers for free. Real nice experience, I do recommend them.

There is a Facebook group that is great for selling and buying pc parts. Not many brick and mortar options though

For DIY types, Best Buy is the only real option. Back in 2019 Microcenter told me they were planning an expansion in this area. Then Covid hit and that was canceled. NewEgg has been good to me for online ordering.

Buy online. Everything local costs 2 to 3 times as much. Newegg, PC Parts Picker, etc for online
