This is for Missouri NWS's Severe Weather Preparedness Week, which happens annually in March. The Statewide Tornado Drill always falls on a Tuesday during Severe Weather week, which is different from the usual tests that happen on the second Wednesday of every month.

Weather radio owners: The NWS won't be sending a Tornado Warning tone through to your weather radios this year, only a Required Weekly Test tone. Be sure to disable the alarm for that alert, if it hasn't already been disabled by default.

Thank you for the reminder. We're supposed to have rain and cold temps tomorrow, so some people might actually think we have a tornado since the past couple of days have been much more like spring.

Hopefully this will nip the "Tornado sirens?!?!" posts in the bud for tomorrow ;)

But you never know until 10 am whether they'll blow them or not on a cloudy day. If they deem it isn't a "good-weather day," the drill will be cancelled for the area. I imagine they reserve those cancellations for days where a severe weather threat is more likely, but there isn't really a guideline to determine what is a "good-weather day" or not.
