BluCurrent! I’ve been with them since I was a teen. I’ve gotten two car loans through them and will probably get a third soon. Friendly staff and easy to work with.

We have our mortgage and savings with them. No issues.

I love Telcomm CU, I'm not sure if they're open for people outside of that industry (or their relatives) though...

Seconding Telcomm! The only thing I wish they did was refunding all ATM fees charged by other banks.

I've got Telcomm as well and I've been pretty happy with them.

One thing that I'll mention is that I just have a savings and checking account and I don't know how they are for loans. Their lending practices may be completely different.

I tried to talk to someone about a home loan 4 times before I got sick of rude people and being blown off. I was so surprised because I had banked there for 6 years since I was a teenager. That one kinda put me off but over all I do like the bank

Except they charge you a dollar for using your debit card more than 12-13 times in a month. I charge everything as credit so they can’t do that.

I've never had that issue. Is that with their fresh start checking?

Salt-Description-387 t1_j1pwqry wrote

I’ve been with them since 2006, so I’m not sure what the fresh start checking is. But I noticed years ago that my statements were showing $1 charges after I’d use my debit card, so I called and asked. They said after so many debit charges that they’ll charge you $1 for each one after that for the rest of that statement period. So I just charged it as credit or used my low balance credit card through them to pay for things in order to bypass that.

Other than that, they’ve been fine.

That’s not true. You’re only charged a dollar if you have overdraft from savings to checking. If you don’t keep a balance in your checking account and swipe your card, it will pull from savings and charge a dollar after 3 automatic transfers. This does not apply if you transfer money on your own.

It’s entirely true. I’ve never had an overdraft. Maybe they’ve changed things since then, but this was how it was for years with them. I probably use a debit transaction 3 times a month now but they told me after the 12th or 13th debit transaction they start charging a dollar to the account holder because it costs them money. They suggested running it as credit so that the merchant gets charged the transaction fee instead.

Edit: I’m willing to admit when I am wrong, and I am wrong on this. I emailed them and asked if they had changed it. They said they no longer charge $1 fee after so many debit transactions.

Agreed, though I've only used them for car loans. Not sure how they are for regular banking but I imagine they're good with it too.

I work for AGCU and I have relationships with most of the CUs in town, and every one of them is really fantastic, but AGCU is even fantastic-er! But honestly, you really can't go wrong.

And if you do choose to just keep your current Credit Union, most of them are part of the Co-Op and you can walk into any shared branch here in Springfield and use it just like your current CU.
