AMC brought open caption screenings to a large number of theaters in late 2021.

OT, I avoided auditoriums 4 and 7 at Springfield 11 for years because the screens were damaged. However, I was forced to see something in 7 recently, and the screen was fine. So, they seem to have replaced those screens sometime in the past couple years. The projection has not been upgraded. I mostly go to Springfield 11, but the projection is better at Alamo and the Branson IMAX.

Alamo has finally adopted discounted ticket pricing on Tuesdays, although it's not as low as other chains: $7.00 + tax now. They have also effectively abandoned Victory Rewards. Springfield 11 Tuesday pricing is $5.49 + tax currently.

Odd question, do you know if Alamo has dropped the covid surcharge that does not go to the waiters?

I've never heard of that. They automatically charge 18% (?) gratuity now, but I'm not aware of any other charges, and I assume that goes to wait staff. FWIW, I ran a credit card for the gratuity when using a coupon for free popcorn in October, but I tipped in cash because the waiter returned a receipt showing my total as $0.00. When I got home and checked my card history, they had charged gratuity to my card. I've had more problems with food service and billing there than I would expect from any ordinary restaurant. Also, the majority of my scanned Fandango QR codes have for some reason printed tickets for the wrong screenings at the box office. They switch screenings to different auditoriums a lot (which created some chaos on $3 movie day last year), and they completely canceled one of the last screenings that I purchased a ticket for.

It was there. It was something like 15 or 20%. The part that frustrated me is on the bill it said it was NOT a gratuity and does not go to your waiter. I was shocked while reading that. Check out this sub Reddit ad other people complained about it to.

I haven’t been since, it really rubbed me the wrong way. The thing that sucks is I love Alamo but not double getting fleeced.

Also that kind of billing behind your back is shit and really dishonest. Also means you get the pleasure of disputing the charge, sending receipts and wasting your time.

as an employee of the alamo… the service charge goes to not only your waiter but the kitchen and bar crew that worked on your stuff. you can tip more if you want but it’s not an obligation.

I don’t have a pic of the receipt, kicking myself, but do have a pic of taking my family. This was June 23, 2021 and haven’t been back.

I don’t mind paying tips, but I want it to go to the people who make the experience, not a corporation not even in the state. So this is good to hear!

Both of those theaters do not offer open captions at this time. Alamo does at some of its locations but not yet at this one.

As someone who watches captions at home cause of hearing loss, I can't imagine needing them in a theater unless you're full on deaf CAUSE THE SOUND IS SO LOUD :(. However, if you need them this is FREAKING AWESOME.
