Really, we need more temporal resolution, not spatial resolution.
We've gone from SD to 720p to 1080p to 4K and now pushing for 8K... Yet movies are stuck at 24fps, and 'next gen' console games seem to be heading back down to 30fps (after seeing a fair bit of 60fps in the cross-generation period)
Stop doubling and quadrupling the pixel count every few years... until the current pixels are at least animating fluidly.

I don't think movies are stuck at 24fps. It's not that big of a deal to shoot 60fps from cinema cameras or even mirrorless cameras. Everyone has their own opinion but 60fps looks like you're watching real life.
I think 24fps looks bigger than real life and also covers up a lot if bad effects and acting.
