99 little bugs in the code, 99 little bugs, pick one out, patch it around...

so microsoft patched it first and then mozilla patched it after?

and looks like the issue happens with many programs, including chromium

Are you still using Windows? There are better options.

...depending on what you're using it for.

Ah I see. So to produce bugs it is going to be really good.

If all I were using Windows for was running a browser I'd switch over to a Linux distro at this point (as I do for my home server, etc), but there's just too many circumstances where it's just not viable for me.

You haven't cited a single reason to use windows, only reasons for using Linux. But browsing can be done on Android or IOS better these days.

I'm a software engineer in the VR space. Most production tooling doesn't run on Linux or Android or IOS, even if the software I work on might (with great pain). Graphics API support is lacking or nonexistent depending on which platform we're talking about and which API we're talking about. Nvidia cards are dominant, yet the drivers are sub-par on other platforms.

As for browsing specifically, browsing is much less efficient on mobile interfaces than on desktop interfaces and I don't know how you can possibly argue otherwise. Screen real-estate alone is a detriment to the mobile browsing experience, never mind how much more painful and slow input is. I'll do something quick on a phone, but if I need to do anything actually productive I put down my phone and walk over to my desktop.

Well, that's your problem, dude. The problem that your field and your peers created for you. Don't blame other people for your limitations.

You stated there were better options, I claimed that's not always the case. You said I didn't provide any reasons and browsing is better on Android and iOS, I responded with a couple ways I'm personally affected (out of the many, many possible reasons) and listed a couple ways browsing is categorically not better in those ecosystems, and your response is "well that's your problem dude" and that software engineers created problems with software which... well, no shit? Of course it's my problem, and it's a problem for a huge proportion of the populace. This entire thread of discussion is about the fact that people have problems using other operating systems. Sometimes Windows is the best choice, even if we don't want it to be.

Yes, the newer ones are garbage. I'm rocking Windows 7 with higher performance, better UI, and fewer bugs.
