Unless the tractors weighs 5 tons more than a comparable ICE tractor, in which case it absolutely did.

Why 5 tons? Wouldn’t any amount of weight above and ICE tractor/trailer mean the Tesla semi carries less of a load?

Because that's the amount that the load was short by that led people to claim that they were lying about the gross vehicle weight

No I get that but if the Tesla semi weight more than some of the heaviest ICE option the Tesla will have to have less load capacity.

Often, yes, though trucks often drive well below the limit anyway.
And I'm not sure how multitrailer options affect the limit.
