Something like Walt and Jesse from Breaking Bad. At various points of the series they could be partners, protege-mentor, surrogate father-son, rivals and enemies to each other. Walt and Jesse have a very complicated relationship arc throughout the series where it has been debated by the fans whether Walt ever cared about Jesse at all in a genuine fashion or just saw him as useful pawn in his goals.
Another great complex relationship could be Don Draper and Peggy Olson from Mad Men who had their ups and downs throughout the seven seasons.
